“Thanks for emailing the office of Senator Stafsholt. We appreciate hearing from you. I will share your comments with Rob when I speak with him next.

After receiving your email, we contacted the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on your behalf about this application. They have replied to us with the following information.

The DNR received a final permit application on December 30, 2022 for Cumberland LLC, a proposed swine CAFO in Burnett County, WI. The application was subsequently deemed complete on January 12, 2023. The application will undergo a robust environmental review to determine compliance with NR 243, Wis. Adm. Code. Once review is complete, the department will take action on this permit application. Such action would be to deny or issue a permit. Either action would be preceded by notice to the public of the draft decision, a comment period, an opportunity to request a public hearing, and a right to appeal any final decision.

For contacting the DNR for this application with any questions or concerns you may have about this application, Tyler Dix (Tyler.Dix@wisconsin.gov) is the point of contact for this application. Those who may have concerns about the proposed CAFO may contact Tyler via email to receive direct notice of public participation opportunities moving forward.

Additional information can be found on the department’s website for this application: https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/CAFO/cumberland.html.

In the meantime, if you should have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out again at any time.

Office of State Senator Rob Stafsholt”

Keep up the good work.
