Welcome to spring in Trade Lake Wisconsin. The geese are honking and the birds are singing and it doesn’t smell like hog manure and the water is drinkable. Thank you for supporting the cause for so long.

So why do we need to keep these billboards?

Cumberland LLC still owns land at the site and is paying the taxes. That means they haven’t gone away, they’re just waiting.

The lawsuit against the Town of Eureka is in the appellate courts and a KnowCAFOs Director is an Attorney for the Town. Needless to say, he’s keeping a close eye on it. It hasn’t gone away, they’re just waiting.

The Wisconsin Assembly, on a number of occasions, has attempted to pass a law that renders local farm related ordinances moot. So far they have not succeeded in getting one signed into law, but that doesn’t mean they’ve quit trying. They’re just waiting.

The KnowCAFOs Team has dedicated 6 years to the cause. The billboards you see in downtown Luck, north of Frederic and on highway 70 west of Siren are our major attempts to keep our movement alive. That doesn’t even include web and email services and yard signs. The only income source we have is you, our supporters. And thank you for that. Without you there would be 26,500 hogs on the hill creating 9 million gallons of liquid manure a year. I think you’re aware of what that means.

These billboards cost around $6,000 a year. One of them is due in early May. It’s up to our supporters to keep the project alive. As long as the CAFO supporters persevere, we must as well. If we stop now we have wasted a lot of time and energy.

Again, thank you for your support over the years, and your continued support in the future. Please hit the donate button below or mail a check to the box, the address is also below.

Remember, they are just waiting.
